• Progresson London Agreement

As discussed in our Spring 2007 Patent Issues, the London Agreement will come into force following ratification by the French parliament and president. This would result in significant cost savings for most granted European patents by reducing translation costs for bringing the European patent into effect in the desired countries. A significant step towards ratification took place when on 26 September 2007 France’s National Assembly approved the Agreement. The London Agreement will be considered by the French Senate in the near future, and there is a very real prospect that it will enter into force in 2008.
